Common problems and what the app says
Applies to Workletto 1.x.
This page lists messages the app shows, with the fix and a link to the full article. Find the words you see on screen.
Signing in
Section titled “Signing in”- “Enter your email and password.” One of the two boxes is empty. Fill in both. A sign-in address that isn’t an email address gets “Enter a valid email address.”
- “That email and password don’t match.” Check the address and the password, including capital letters. If you have forgotten the password, see “Forgot your password” below.
- “Too many sign-in attempts from your network. Wait a minute and try again.” Ten wrong passwords in a minute from the same network address pause sign-in from it for a minute. Successful sign-ins don’t count. Wait a minute.
- “This account has been turned off. Ask an admin to turn it back on.” An admin turned your account off. Only an admin can turn it back on, under Manage, then People.
- Forgot your password. If your app can send email, the sign-in page has a Forgot your password? button, and a link arrives by email. Otherwise, ask an admin to make you a reset link. See Reset a password.
Choosing a password
Section titled “Choosing a password”- “Choose a password of 10 to 128 characters.” The password is too short or too long. This is the message on the setup page, the join page, the reset page and the Change password box.
The setup page
Section titled “The setup page”- “One more step at your host.” The install has no usable setup code.
SETUP_CODEis missing or shorter than 16 characters. Add it in your host’s settings, redeploy, and reload the page. - “That setup code is not correct.” Check it against the one you saved. Copy it rather than typing it.
- “Too many attempts. Wait 15 minutes and try again.” The page limits wrong guesses. Wait, then try again.
See First-run setup.
Invite and reset links
Section titled “Invite and reset links”- “This link doesn’t work”, with “This invite link has expired or was already used. Ask your admin for a new one.” An invite works once, for 7 days. An admin makes a new link under Manage, then People.
- “This link doesn’t work”, with “This reset link has expired or was already used. Ask an admin for a new one.” A reset link made by an admin works once, for 24 hours. One sent by email works once, for 1 hour.
- “Someone with that email already has an account.” Shown to an admin who invites someone, or changes a person’s email, to an address that is already in use.
See Invite your team and Reset a password.
Time and timesheets
Section titled “Time and timesheets”- “Stop your timer before you submit this week.” A timer is still running on a day of that week. Stop it with the stop button in the sidebar, then submit.
- “This week is submitted. Withdraw it to make changes.” and “This week is approved. Ask a manager to reopen it to make changes.” Approvals are on and the week is locked. See Submit your timesheet.
- A very short entry reads “under a minute”. An entry shorter than a minute isn’t shown as 0:00. The day’s totals still count it.
- “Enter a time above zero, or leave it empty to start a timer.” You typed a duration of 0 in the day view. Type a real time, or leave the box empty to start a timer.
- My timer is still running. Only one timer runs at a time, and starting another stops the first. A timer left running keeps counting, and when you stop it the entry is cut to 24 hours, the most one entry can hold. See Track your time.
When a test email fails, the message under the button says why:
- “The email server refused the username or password.” Check both. Some providers need an app password rather than your normal one.
- “Couldn’t connect to the email server at” the host and port. Check the host, the port and the secure-connection setting.
- “The email server at” the host and port “didn’t accept the secure connection.” Turn Secure connection the other way round, or try another port.
- “Enter the password again.” The saved email password can’t be read any more, because
BETTER_AUTH_SECRETwas changed. Enter the password again on the Email page.
Importing and restoring
Section titled “Importing and restoring”- “This person’s week is submitted or approved. Reopen it in Approvals first.” An imported row falls in a locked week. Reopen the week, then import again.
- “Several projects are called” and then the name. Add the Client column to the file, or match one, to tell them apart.
- “This backup comes from a newer version of the app. Update this install first, then restore.” Update the new install to at least the version that made the backup, then restore.
See Import time from Harvest and Back up and restore.
Other messages
Section titled “Other messages”- “There’s already a task with that name.” Two tasks can’t share a name, ignoring capital letters. See Company-wide tasks.
- “The currency can’t change once there are invoices or expenses.” The hint under the switched-off Currency list. See Brand your app.
- “This client has projects or invoices. Archive it instead.” See Add and manage clients.
- “Page not found.” The page says “This address doesn’t exist, or you don’t have access to it.” Check the address for a typo, or click Go to your time. A member who opens an address for admins and managers sees the same page.
- “Leave without saving your changes?” You started changing a form and then tried to go to another page. The forms that ask are company settings, invoice settings, email settings, a project’s settings and a draft invoice. Closing or reloading the tab gets the browser’s own question. Save first, or leave to throw the changes away.
- “There’s already a client called” and the name, or “This client already has a project called” and the name. See Add and manage clients and Projects.
- “The start date is after the end date.” Shown in a report, a new invoice or the dated exports when the first date is later than the last. Nothing is shown or downloaded until you fix it.
- “Enter a color like #2f5bd3.” The accent color box on Appearance holds something that isn’t a hex color. See Brand your app.
